What a dream it was for all of us to be together in Southern Pines, North Carolina. The entire Pinehurst and Southern Pines area is mind-blowing. So many great golf courses, so many pine trees, and so much beauty all in one place is hard to believe.

The weather was a bit rude. We saw it coming and hoped for better, but that is golf and that is travel. We did not get the promised tornadoes on Monday, but just about everything else made Pine Needles a challenge, and we were lucky to get all 18 in. Then the frigid temperatures and heavy wind on Tuesday made Southern Pines play even tougher.

Not one complaint from y'all. Just good times, tough conditions, and even better memories.

Tournament Champions

The Overall Championship goes to the low net team. Tony Wiedenski grabbed Colin West as a last-minute partner, and they finished at 9 under for third place. Pop and Jeremy Huckell came in at 10 under for second. The 2026 Ashworth Brothers Champions are Eric Underwood and George Gann.

They won by 7 shots, and we noticed. Everybody loves these guys. That said, nobody except maybe them will be too bummed to hear that both of their handicaps are moving from 7s to 4s for the foreseeable future.

In the Gross Division, we had some real sticks post some great scores. Shea Rollins and Kyle Huckell won a card off against John Ashworth and Michael Sims for second place at 1 under. The Gross Champions are Ralph Reahard and Jay Woodson, who finished 3 under across the two days.

A Few Notables

Gross Champion Jay Woodson
4-time Virginia State Open Champion, winner of the 2015 Big Break Tournament over Tony Finau for $100,000, and he made 3 cuts in 11 starts on the PGA Tour.

Third Place Gross finisher Michael Sims
2001 North and South Champion at Pinehurst No. 2, first amateur to win the New England Open in 2001, 111 PGA Tour starts with 36 cuts made, and a University of Rhode Island Hall of Fame member.

I like it that they'll tee it up with us!
